About AKIMBO Architecture
AKIMBO: from the middle English – a change in direction.
AKIMBO Architecture is a forward-thinking design studio. Akimbo is committed to finding new directions for design solutions to create architecture that is innovative and progressive.
While craftsmanship is often a term associated with the making of an object, it applies equally to the process of design. Through thoughtful consideration of the relationship between internal and external spaces the experience of a building can be enhanced. We believe that the craft of good design can enrich and delight, while also creating elegant solutions with integrity and longevity.
AKIMBO is committed to a sustainable future – we believe that architecture has a responsibility to minimise consumption of resources and implement regenerative design principles. We are signatories to the ‘Australian Architects Declare’ movement, and will always work with our clients to create architecture that has a more positive impact on the world around us.
We prioritise developing good relationships with our clients, builders, other building professionals and consultants. The best results are always found within a successful collaboration.

Method
AKIMBO works with clients to guide projects from the very inception through to completion. We work across design at all scales, from the big picture with masterplanning and building design, through to interior fitout and finishing touches with custom furniture and detailing.
We work with a variety of media to investigate and illustrate design options – we use sketches, drawings, physical models and 3D computer models to explain, explore and examine the interaction of built and natural environment. We always share multiple solutions, enabling you to be involved in the process of bringing your project to life.
Location
AKIMBO Architecture is located in Albury-Wodonga, and services the surrounding Riverina, Murray, Alpine, High-Country and North-East regions as well as Sydney, allowing us to have a unique variety of regional and city based projects.
AKIMBO Architecture acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we operate and we pay our respects to the Elders past, present and future. In Australia, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have long espoused the cultural, social, economic and environmental benefits embedded in the holistic relationship of Caring for Country.
